Getting Around St. Kitts and Nevis
Although St. Kitts and Nevis have
no municipal transportation system,
mini buses run regular but unsched-
uled routes. Rental cars are the
best bet for getting around.
ò Rental cars are easily access-
ible from several national and
local agencies, which can ar-
range for rentals on either
island
ò Rental requirements vary be-
tween agencies, but most re-
quire a minimum age of 25
ò A driving permit must be pur-
chased from the local police
station
ò Motorscooters can be rented
from several rental car com-
panies.
ò Driving is on the LEFT
ò Taxis are available on both
islands but Nevis rates are
much more expensive
ò Taxi drivers charge extra in
the evenings and as much as
50% more on Nevis
ò Taxi rates are published in EC
dollars so negotiate your fare
before the trip
ò Water taxis between the is-
lands are available
ò Sightseeing tours can be ar-
ranged through several local
agencies or through your hotel
